This week marks the 4-month milestone of my journey at CIBC. It signifies a significant phase in my professional growth as I approach the completion of one of my final co-op terms. This experience has not only enabled me to surpass my skills but has also propelled me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to engage in various activities, participate in events, and collaborate with remarkable individuals.I had the privilege of participating in CIBCโs 2024 Innovation Challenge, a platform where exceptional students collaborate to tackle real issues faced by CIBC. Exciting news - our team clinched the ๐ฅ 1st place in redesigning CIBCโs Careers site, enhancing engagement on their digital platforms to attract top talent!Over a span of 2 weeks, we utilized market research, data analytics, UX design, and student-centric storytelling to grasp the pain points of the candidate journey and formulate comprehensive recommendations. A huge shoutout to my outstanding teammates โ Milcah Pollentes, Rose Parackal, Tijen Halil, Shrey Sinha, and Elena Athanasopoulos โ for their invaluable contributions.Special thanks to the Student Leadership Academy team โ for orchestrating this impactful competition. Itโs been an incredible experience, and Iโm honored to have played a part in shaping CIBCโs future!#coop #cibc #internship

Today I had the opportunity to spend some time with the TIAA interns. Engaging with and learning from this next generation of marketers and leaders brings me so much joy. Their energy, fresh perspective and passion for growth is inspiring.I shared some of my lessons learned throughout my career to date, including:- The best marketers are endlessly curious. About their customer, their category, their competition, and their craft.- Observe the leaders around you - what traits do you want to emulate and more importantly, which do you never want to exhibit.Use that information to formulate the kind of leader you want tobe.- Careers are like a wall of lego blocks. If you stack every block one on top of the other, you won't build a strong wall. If you put some side by side, sometimes overlapping, you build the strongest wall. Think of each career opportunity as the next lego block in your career wall. - Be intentional about building your personal brand. Build it around your unique superpowers. Nurture it and protect it.I am excited for their internship at TIAA this summer to be one of the formative lego blocks in their career wall.

Good luck & hopefully congratulations to all those graduating today!! This should be a good time of year to answer an FAQ (or 2) that we see a lot of at this time of year: "How do I get started in Financial Services?" and "Can an Agency help me get into FS?"- Internships (Summer placements), Graduate Schemes & Apprenticeship Schemes. These are generally run by employers directly, they don't usually need Agency support. - Consultancy businesses; the FDM / Delta Capita's of the world do hire a high volume of "early careers candidates" and generally combine short term placements in their client base with classroom learning. Also generally they hire directly. - Nearshore hubs; Industry leaders like JPM (Bournemouth), Morgan Stanley / BNP/ Barclays (Glasgow), Deutsche Bank (Birmingham), LGIM (Hove & Cardiff), Schroders (Horsham) and others have "talent hubs" outside of London, these can be excellent places to start your professional career. Where Agencies can generally support more easily tends to be with that "next step", and top tier junior candidates often come with experience of the above. Enjoy results day!!!#financialservicescareers

Hey Summer Analysts,Ready to crush your internship? ๐ Here are some insider tips from Goldman Sachs that took me from clueless rookie to standout star. Letโs dive in!1) Be Coachable: Be open to learning, and take feedback in stride. The more I learn, the more I realize I know nothing. Embrace that uncomfortable feeling of not knowing. See feedback not as a critique, but a humble opportunity to be better.2) Attitude is Everything: Trust me, a positive attitude is your best friend. When you're genuinely curious and excited, people notice. Find the parts of the business that make you light up and dive in. And for the parts that donโt? Approach them with an open mind.3) If You Canโt Be the Smartest, Work the Hardest: On Wall Street, everyoneโs smart. Hereโs a secret: donโt try to be the smartest, just work the hardest. I started with a Chemistry degree and didnโt know a lick about finance. Weekly quizzes? I bombed them. But I didnโt let that stop me. I looked up every term I missed and gradually climbed to the top of my cohort.4) Own Your Mistakes: Youโre going to screw up. I didโa lot. But hereโs the deal: itโs not about the mistake, itโs about owning it. When I messed up, I admitted it, figured out why it happened, and learned from it. Thatโs how you can earn respect and grow.5) Ask When You Donโt Know: Itโs way better to say, โI donโt know, but Iโll find out.โ It shows your commitment to getting things right and builds trust with your team. And yesโฆ there's such a thing as a stupid question. Donโt listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. Want more insider tips? Just ask! ๐ and Good Luck!

The Power of Acknowledgement: A Journey of ChoiceโฆWe all take journeys, some planned, others propelled by a nudge from fate. Today, I want to share a piece of mine, a story about acknowledging experiences and taking ownership of choices.~The Crossroads: For four years, I thrived as a Credit and Marketing Officer at a Micro Finance Bank. It was a solid foundation, but a nagging voice whispered of something more. The digital revolution was upon us, and I yearned to be part of it. An internship opportunity in the Digital Business Group presented itself, a chance to dive into this new world. But it came at a cost โ giving up the stability of my full-time job.Trust me the decision wasn't easy. Security vs possibility. Comfort vs growth. Ultimately, I acknowledged my yearning for the digital realm. Accepting the internship meant taking ownership of the consequences, both positive and negative. Stepping down from my full-time position might seem like a setback to some, but for me, it was an investment and I just wanted to acknowledge my personal effort, after going to rigorous processes and assessment. โI wanted to acknowledge Meโ~Embracing the Journey: The internship was a whirlwind. Learning new technologies, adapting to a fast-paced environment, it pushed me to my limits. However, with each challenge overcome, my confidence grew. I discovered a passion for digital solutions and their potential to empower people.~The Ripple Effect: Looking back, my choice wasn't just about a job change. It was about acknowledging my internal drive and taking responsibility for my path. This experience has shaped me into a more adaptable, tech-savvy individual, ready to embrace the ever-evolving digital landscape.~A Call to Action: This journey is mine, but the message is universal. Every experience, no matter how seemingly insignificant, shapes who we become. By acknowledging our true desires and taking ownership of our choices, we unlock our potential and chart the course of our lives. Let's embrace the unknown, celebrate new beginnings, and remember, our choices have the power to create the consequences we desire.โSo, what nagging voice is whispering in your ear? What experience are you ready to acknowledge? The journey awaits, and the power of choice lies within you.โ

365 days ago, I bid adieu to TIAA, an organization that shaped my career from an internship to a fulfilling 3-year journey. They say your first workplace is always special, and TIAA proved that true. Today, I'm penning down this post from a completely different world - as a master's student in Business Analytics & Information Systems at the University of South Florida. This year has been a testament to the power of stepping out of one's comfort zone. Fast forward to today from working with industry leaders at TIAA to juggling roles as diverse as dining staff and exam proctor, while also securing an internship at Sarasota County Government, every experience has been a building block in my professional and personal growth. To my amazing mentors and colleagues at TIAA - Marie McFadden, Dinesh Panday, Reena Jain, Preetha Nair and the entire team your positive influence continues to guide me through new challenges.Fellow international students will resonate with the delicate balancing act of academics, part-time work, and the constant hunt for career opportunities. It's a challenging journey, but one that builds resilience and adaptability like no other. As I navigate the intricacies of a new work culture and explore the beautiful landscapes of the US, this journey has emphasized the importance of balancing professional growth with personal experiences and continuous learning. The future may hold uncertainties, especially in the current job market for international students. However, I'm confident that the skills I'm developing - from time management to cross-cultural communication, rapid adaptation to emerging technologies - are invaluable assets for any future role.As I navigate this exciting journey, I'm embracing every challenge as an opportunity to grow. The road ahead may be uncertain, but I'm energized by the possibilities it holds. Cheers to continuous learning, pushing boundaries, and transforming obstacles into stepping stones for success. ๐ #InternationalStudent #CareerDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #EmbraceChange #TIAA
